Introduction
Located in Worgret, just outside of the Saxon town of Wareham, Maranatha is a unique self-catering Dorset retreat which sleeps two. It offers both seclusion and easy access to the many beautiful sites in the world famous Isle of Purbeck.
It is a perfect base for those looking to explore the Jurassic Coast, the wild Dorset heathland or enjoy one of the many fantastic beaches in this area.
Maranatha is also a nature-lovers dream, with an abundance of birdlife and daily visits from the resident deer!
The house and annexe are set in 3 acres with some of the trees planted over one hundred years ago, attracting many beautiful species of birds. You have your own seating area, loungers and swing seat to enjoy the distant views of the Purbeck Hills and the meandering river across the fields or just to relax and curl up with a good book.
The orchard, with its morning light, is a peaceful place to enjoy your breakfast to set you up for the adventures of the day.
In May and June it’s a joy to have the rhododendrons in full bloom.
The garden is regularly visited by the deer who come to graze or nibble the treats put out for them.
Adjacent to the garden you can access Worgret Heath Nature Reserve which is an SSSI (sight of special scientific interest) From the heath the views of the hills are stunning and you may even hear the call of the elusive Nightjar in the summer at dusk
Even though there is a road close by, our guests have described Maranatha as a peaceful and tranquil experience.

Customer Reviews
"When we read the comments of previous guests, they seemed too good to be true - but 100% true they were! We can endorse them all.
You have provided everything to ensure a pleasant stay for guests who are made to feel so welcome. Many thanks for the various tasty treats planted here and there throughout this comfortable and spacious property.
Maranatha came to be a special place for us both, for a number of reasons. We have so much enjoyed the tranquility, affording us time to relax and unwind. The wildlife in the garden provided such interest that the T.V was not switched on even once during the week! The location is ideal, with easy access to Wareham, Swanage and the inspiring coastline.
Like a number of your other guests, we also look forward to returning, God willing.
Thankyou so much for all you have done. With love and very best wishes.”

"Dear Susie, we have had a fab time in and around Wareham and would recommend the Italian Kitchen and the Quay Inn steak night!
We have loved staying in Maranatha, the cottage has everything you would need for a great stay. Lovely welcome pack full of treats!
Wonderful garden, meeting the family of deer was fantastic. Susie is a great host, nothing is too much trouble. One of our TOP places to return to.”

"Another fantastic holiday in this little part of Dorset paradise. We have loved watching the wildlife, especially Lazzie coming round for his treats.
The cottage is ideally placed for us between family and friends and is our home from home! Thankyou, Susie for making the place so welcoming for us and we hope to return.”

"We had a lovely week staying at Maranatha cottage . The cottage has everything that you will need for a week self catering and is spotlessly clean. There were also lots of little treats left for us by Susie (the owner). The cottage had a beautiful garden that was visited by lots of wildlife and was set up for you to sit and relax in the garden too, we even had deer visit us one evening!
We had not been to the Dorset area before- the scenery was so beautiful and there were lots of places that were easy to get to from the cottage- Durdle Door, Corfe Castle and the South coast path, Susie also gave us lots of little bits of information about where to park and little hidden gems to visit.
We will definitely be back to visit again.”

"This is a home from home property with every comfort in all rooms, with high spec decor and furnishings. Kitchen ( fully equipped ) and bathroom have latest mod cons .
Susie is a wonderful host with the warmest welcome we have ever experienced and available for advice if needed. You will find thoughtful touches on arrival in the fridge and lounge.
Wildlife in the grounds is like a nature reserve. Deer are daily visitors in the garden and very tame which made one of the highlights to our stay each day.
We will be booking very soon for this Autumn and May 2026. This was our 2nd visit as we had such a memorable holiday in May 2024. This is a SUPERB spacious property for 2 on one level. The grounds of 3 acres are fabulous, with lovely views and easy parking close by within the grounds.”
